The Sharks Unleash Black Fury on the Caps

Alex Ovechkin, Nick Backstrom and the Caps were in town on Saturday for the unveiling of the Sharks 3rd jersey. The Sharks young netminder Brian Boucher tended goal for the Sharks during pregame warm-ups, and Evgeni Nabokov made his first appearance on the ice since his overtime injury against the St. Louis Blues. The Caps marched out to an early SOG advantage as they clearly managed the puck well and controlled the Sharks in their zone for most of the first period. The sluggish Sharks were rejuvenated by a bare-knuckles brawl between Sharks enforcer, Jody Shelley and Washington villain, Donald Brashear. A big hit from the Sharks' gritty defenseman, Doug Murray, and the stellar offensive performances from the Sharks' d-men would prove to be too much for the Capitals. The Sharks would finish the first period with a 2-0 advantage despite being outshot and outplayed for most of the period.

The Sharks' forwards would add offensive and defensive support to the cause early into the second period. Ryane Clowe led the forwards with two goals, while Joe Thornton, Devin Setoguchi, and Captain, Patrick Marleau each had a goal and an assist to contribute to the thrashing of the Capitals. The real story was the record-breaking play of Dan Boyle, Rob Blake, and Marc-Edouard Vlasic, as they broke the Sharks' scoring record for defensemen and lead the Sharks to victory as they dismantled the Washington Caps by the score of 7-2. Becky, sporting her 3rd jersey, witnessed a high-scoring hockey affair and scored two Black Armor pucks of her own signed by Sharks' forwards Torrey Mitchell and Mike Grier. All in all, it was a great night for Sharks fans and hockey enthustiasts alike; we had a great time and wonderful seats.

Black Armor Unveiled

The San Jose Sharks unveiled their 3rd Jersey on Saturday night before a sell-out crowd. The jersey included all the elements of the simple and classic throwback jerseys of the past worn by original six teams such as Chicago, Montreal, Detroit, and Boston. Eager to get a glimpse of the jersey, we trekked up San Jose to gander at its simple and classic design. The jersey features throwback ties, the newly-designed team crests, and the never before seen shoulder logos that pay homage to city they call home, San Jose, California. The throwback ties and simple design impressed Becky so much that we purchased a Premier replica to be worn at home games and "Black Thursday" events. Choosing a player name was a difficult task, however, Becky settled on the brutally physical, forechecking forward, Milan Michalek; a good choice in my opinion, although I probably would have chosen Doug Murray or Dan Boyle. Becky had an opportunity to sport her Black Armor jersey on Saturday as we witnessed the Sharks annihilation of the Washington Capitals.

Jack-O-Lanterns 101

In order to make marriages work successfully you need to compromise, and take part in the festivities that bring grade-school smiles to the faces of the ones we love; and nothing says love like slipping your hand into the goopy, slimy, stringy and woven madness that exists inside the most bizarre member of the squash family, the pumpkin. Anyone that knows anything about creating the festive masterpiece known as a Jack-O-Lantern acknowledges that it all begins with the selection of an oddly shaped pumpkin with the uniquest of stems. Our pumpkins not only had great stems, but they turned out to be the best of their kind on the block. Muhahha...Happy Halloween!

Trick or Treat

Spencer and Molly eagerly await their favorite holiday of the year this side of Christmas. Spencer, practiced his best guard dog impression while trying to save face dressed as a jack-o-lantern. He would later get exiled to the garage as the holiday festivities proved to be too exhilarating for even the tamest of guard dogs. Molly, helped hand out chocolate goodness to the barrage of children that quickly turned the third period of a hockey game between the Fighting Sioux and the Wisconsin Badgers into an all night affair.
